Being authentic at work happened by accident, I sent a photo of the new wig I was buying to my colleagues! I had to laugh as my colleagues were so cool about it asking questions and saying how they liked it. Commenting how fantastic it is that I can wear wigs. And how they love a fringe aka bangs.
I have a lot to talk about. Like I wrote a book that went number 1 on Amazon in November 2023!
I signed my new work contract to relocate to Dallas TX, where my fiance lives. I'm going to get a flat in Downtown Dallas in a particular apartment without kids or cats. It's my time to do the next part of my life on my terms.
We're making brownies after this episode because we can!
When will people stop working 18 hour days and when will companies stop expecting it?

This is my story of being asked in an interview for a job "How do you cope with your ADHD"
As I sat staring into my computer screen, during a series of moments with fellow psychologists, I held onto the hope of empathy and understanding. After all, we were all champions of human nature, or so I believed. But what unfolded shattered my expectations, leaving me feeling utterly frustrated. One individual, consumed by a toxic demeanour, emanated pure jerkiness, while another had the audacity to feign ignorance, dismissing my ADHD as if it were a curiosity one only concerns themselves with when in a store of curiosities on a Harry Potter sound stage.
My narrative delves deep into the emotional trenches of my journey. With each word, you'll sense my frustration, anger, and unwavering determination. My tale serves as a poignant reminder that even within the supposed haven of psychology, prejudice and cruelty can rear their ugly heads, inflicting pain on those who bear their vulnerabilities.
I invite you to join me as I unravel my story, peeling back the layers to reveal the stark realities of discrimination and the incredible strength it takes to rise above it. Prepare to be spellbound as I confront the darkest corners of the corporate world, shining a light on the transformative power of self-acceptance.
Brace yourself for an unforgettable narrative that challenges societal norms, celebrates authenticity, and inspires us all to embrace our true selves unapologetically, defying the odds that stand in our way.
In this episode, I share my story plus 5 points on how to respond to questions about your ADHD in a professional and informative way.
1. Start by briefly explaining what ADHD is and how it affects you. This can help the interviewer understand the nature of the condition and how it impacts your daily life
2. Share specific strategies or accommodations you use to manage your ADHD in the workplace. This can include things like using a planner, taking breaks, or having a designated work area.
3. Emphasize that while ADHD can present challenges, you have developed effective ways to manage it and are fully capable of performing your job.
4. If the interviewer has more questions or concerns, be willing to provide additional information or resources to help them understand the condition better.
5. Make sure to be kind and patient with the interviewer, remember that they might not have the knowledge about ADHD and they might be asking with good intentions.
I hope this is useful to someone.
Thanks for listening.

I’ve been working hard for the last two years and it feels like I’ve been to visit hell and came back a bit scorched 🥵 So I’m going on holiday next week to nowhere but wherever I want to go.

Retired Lieutenant Commander Reuben Green shares his story of experiencing firsthand racism in the US Navy. He is the author of Black Officer, White Navy which has gotten people's noses twisted. His very interesting story is not a one-off, he says it is one that minority veterans share. He hopes that other minority veterans will write their stories too.
I hope you'll enjoy the conversation as much as I have.

On Coffee with KK Harris, I share my recent diagnosis of ADHD and why I shared it on Linkedin, and why I left my sales job because of ADHD.
Neurodiversity is a real thing and people in the corporate landscape are suffering but we don't have to and neither do we need to hide in the closet. When we come out to the job then it will make it easier and better for our mental well-being. I got my diagnosis late in life and now I find I'm being kinder to myself. I'm still processing it. I've gone back to working full-time as a professional coach.
I'm proud of my neurodiversity, it's my superpower!
Thanks for listening.
